A time to find ourselves…

I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following: 1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself. 2 I have realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.

Red Skelton – One Country Under God

Brother Mark shared a video of the famous comedian Red Skelton from his TV show "The Red Skelton Show," on our Facebook page. I watched that show as a kid, and it brought laughter into my life. In elementary school, we recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning before classes started. We had a class each day that taught us the history of our country, and we were proud of how far we had come in the late '60s as a nation. We didn't understand racism and we didn't care about skin color either. The Pledge of Allegiance was as much about learning civic duty as it was about learning to love our country.

The most important person on earth is a mother…

I did a little research on Cardinal Mindszenty, and he lived an incredible life of service very much like the Apostle Paul. Take moment to read this short narrative from the History Channel on the life of this incredible servant of God. After reading the above from the History Channel, I have one last link for you to follow. This link takes to the U.S. Embassy website in Hungary and gives a first hand account of the Car

Did United Methodist News hear me?

Since the death needless of George Floyd, UMNews has bombarded its readers with "Social Justice Warriorism." Article after article and post after post were focused on "systemic" racism. Pastors jumped on the train, mostly being conducted by liberal bishops. As a former United Methodists, I was surprised to read how racist my old denomination was, but there it was week after week. Posts on ending racism were all over the UMC. Programs to help United Methodist to become "WOKE," were popping up, leading readers to think how horrible the white man must be.

Faith Leaders to Watch or False Idols

Jeffrey Walton wrote a great article over at the Institute on Religion & Democracy Blog Juicy Ecumenism titled Oliveto, Tisby and Butler Named Progressive Faith Leaders to Watch.  I had a few thoughts on this article which I left in the comments on the blog.  Walton’s article is a quick read and will give you a better understanding of my thoughts here.

Series “Proof of God” – The Human Brain

The human brain is the master organ, controlling an unimaginable number of functions all over our bodies at the same time. The brain is proof of God.  Image for a moment that the brain stores more visual images than man can count, and then think about your smartphone which is limited by the size of the installed memory.  Next think about how your brain is not only working to keep you alive while you sleep, but it’s even thinking while you sleep.

A return to the Outer Banks (OBX) for a meeting with No Name

Last night the men of Moyock Christian Fellowship traveled south down the beach to Liberty Christian Fellowship in Kill Devil Hills, NC (OBX) for the first Men’s Gathering in nearly 15 months.  We have traditionally called this gathering of Christian men for a common meal, fellowship, testimony, and prayer the “100 Men Dinner.”  The reality is the gathering has no official name, has been happening nearly monthly for over 20 years, and is attended by men from roughly 25 different churches and a number of denominations and non-denominations.
