What is Memorial Day?

Today is not “Happy Memorial” day – we honor those who fell in the line of duty.

Today is not Veterans day – we don’t thank or recognize those who served, that happens on November 11th.

Today is not National Cook Out day – we do not celebrate the death of those who served.

Today is Memorial Day. The very definition of “memorial” is “serving to preserve remembrance.”

Today we remember those who died in the line of duty in service to our Nation.

Today we visit graves, and remember.

Today we educate our children and grandchildren about the service of the fathers, grandfathers, uncles brothers and sisters who died in service to our country.

If you are celebrating anything today, it should be life and service of our fallen hero’s.
